On March 6, a declaration of cooperation was signed to establish a Migration Data Platform for Lublin and the Lublin region. The platform will operate as part of MigLab, a migration analysis center at Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin operating at the Institute of Sociology.

The declaration was signed by:

• Maria Curie Skłodowska University
• Lublin Provincial Office
• University College of Enterprise and Administration
• Homo Faber Association.

The Platform (a consortium of cooperating entities) is an initiative of the scientific community and activists working on behalf of migrants in Lublin and the Lublin Voivodeship, responding to the growing demand for reliable, complete and up-to-date data as a basis for taking all kinds of action related to this issue and shaping local and regional migration policy. The platform is also an initiative open to all entities interested in communicating and sharing data on migration processes in Lublin and the Lublin region.

The purpose of the Migration Data Platform for Lublin and the Lublin Region is:

• collecting dispersed data on migration processes in a local perspective, taking into account a cross-border perspective,
• analyzing the collected data and sharing it in the form of reports, information, posts, as well as to collecting information on research projects carried out in Lublin and the region devoted to migration issues in a broad sense,
• monitoring and informing about initiatives implemented for the benefit of migrants and their integration in the city and region,
• diagnosis of research needs in the field of migration issues in a local perspective,
• creating networks within the scientific and activist community working in the area of migration in Lublin and the region.

We believe that this initiative will improve, but also raise the quality of service design for migrants in Lublin.
