Report 2025

In 2025, we recorded over 31,000 visits to the Baobab community centre. This alone says a lot about our past year. But numbers are only part of the picture. Because Baobab is a big part of our work. But not all of it.

This time, in our comprehensive report, we have tried to give a broad picture of our work – not only all the activities we offer to the residents of Lublin, but also an insight into the processes that result from them.

The report was authored by Anna Dąbrowska, president of Homo Faber, with support from Agnieszka Tracz. Amadeusz Targoński was responsible for graphics and layout.

In 2025, we worked on five major topics:

1. Responding to human rights violations:

  • Our clients handled 6,292 administrative and legal cases at the front desk alone, in cooperation with the Lublin City Hall Resident Services Office;
  • Our multicultural assistants accompanied people on 969 hospital, medical, and administrative visits;
our team of psychologists conducted 1,129 consultations with children and 805 consultations with adults;
  • The GBV team intervened 24 times in cases of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
Our training sessions on school violence attracted 708 teachers.

2. Welcome to Lublin:

  • We showed Lublin — during 13 themed walks in different languages, we discovered the beauty of our city;
  • We met with students who had just arrived in the city, both at universities and by inviting them to visit us;
  • We conducted Polish language courses at various levels of proficiency.

3. Integration:

  • We invited people to our craft workshops, and there were 256 of them this year.
  • We set up our table for neighborhood meetings five times.

4. Strengthening and development:

  • For the fourth and fifth time, we networked leaders as part of the Intercultural School for Leaders;
  •
we invited people to meetings on participation in the city;
  • We awarded 60 scholarships for children and 35 scholarships for adults with migration experience;
  • Once again, together with the European Solidarity Center in Gdańsk, we created the Flying University of Human Rights. In September, the fourth course for 30 people began.

5. Advocacy:

  • We organized the “Before. During. After. Forum on Social Resilience.” We hosted 80 people from local governments and social organizations at Baobab;
  • We hosted 58 study visits, including from Lublin's partner cities, Ukraine, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Japan, experts from the European Capital of Culture, and the Center for Migration Research at the University of Warsaw.

The Baobab Community Center is a multi-purpose space in the center of Lublin that supports the reception, adaptation, and integration of new residents of Lublin, especially those with experience of migration and refugee status. Opened in February 2023, it is a place for building relationships, weaving social threads, and in a crisis situation – a ready intervention site with a professional team and good facilities. Baobab is a set of changing activities which, in response to challenges, support the process of building a harmonious, socially cohesive and understanding society.
